Thirteen-year-old Surjo has grown up listening to all sorts of music from all over the world. Surjo started learning piano from the age of five. In the past four year’s he has received tutelage from Mrs Angelina Farm. Surjo has completed AMEB Grade 4 piano and Grade 3 Music Theory winning ‘Award of Excellence’ three times. He graduated from UWA Junior Music School in 2013, and earned high commendation from his vocal teachers, Ms and Mrs Christmas. He then started private voice lessons from Mrs. Maureen McKinnon when he was 9 years. From 2012, Surjo has been performing consistently in community events, church concerts, fund-raising events, competitions and concerts. In 2013, Surjo performed as a solo vocalist at the Carols by Candlelight at the Supreme Court Gardens in 2013 with the Stagedoor Performing Arts school, run by Ian Westrip. In the same year, he won the first prize in the City of Cockburn Eisteddfod competition. He was among the top three contestants in the classical genre in the 76th Music Eisteddfod in 2014. In 2015, Surjo sung the Australian National Anthem at the Perth Wildcats games, and has performed twice at the Perth Arena. He has also performed as a soloist in the WA Government Schools Music Society Concert. In 2016 Surjo was selected to play the role of Charlie in the ‘Habit of Art’ by Alan Bennett under the direction of eminent Director Tony Howes. The opportunity to work with such high-quality performers opened up new opportunities for Surjo and brought benefit to him as a performer.
For some time Surjo’s vocal coach has been Petrina Bishop, Opera Australia. He is very fortunate to be under her tutelage as Surjo has found the energy, passion and the real strength of his voice, also allowing him to secure more performances, including performing a solo on Channel 7’s Telethon: 2016.
Other than singing and piano, Surjo also learnt Cello in his Primary School and has taken private guitar lesson for over a year. He is also taking Jazz dance lesson.
Surjo is equally talented in his studies and currently a student of Perth Modern School, and last year he won the honours award in music in the School. He is attending Music Extension program at the school.

Katie Price Testimonial -

I met Katie Price during an audition in my role as director of a music theatre version of The Red Balloon for Black Swan Theatre Company.

She immediately stood out for many reasons initially her lovely smile and manner, then I saw her natural dance ability and strong technique, coupled with her musicality and beautiful singing voice with perfect pitch.

During the creative process she was professional beyond her years and extremely generous and helpful to the other young cast members and always respectful with the rest of the adult cast.

It is rare to see such a young performer with such commitment and professional attitude in all aspects of the creative development and performance.

The production was performed at The Heath Ledger Theatre Studio Underground. Her performance was exceptional and I watched her consistently develop her character and play with the interpretation of the Blue Girl as the season continued. Many audience members and professional colleagues also commented on her beauty and talent … I look forward to watching her career and have no doubt she will be extremely successful. ‘Bon Chance’ ma Petit Katie !!
